The site itself comprises a series of fields and woodland and rises from north to south. The land rises further beyond the site boundary to the south before the land falls towards the Nant Gwaunybara River. Within the site there are also a number of hedgerows and trees. As well as the adopted track, there are public rights of way that traverse the site. Vehicular access to the site is currently gained from Pentwyngwyn Road via Gwern y Domen Farm Lane and comprises in part a bridge over a disused railway line. The lane passes 3 properties comprising Gwern y Domen Farmhouse and 2 converted barns. These properties do not form part of the development site.
